I've always had a deep love for animals. Growing up in the Czech Republic, I dreamt of becoming a vet. But the thought of putting animals down and witnessing their pain made me reconsider my career choice and I became a teacher. I moved to the USA at 18, without knowing English or having any family here. I was determined to chase the American dream, doing whatever it took to pay the bills and live a better life.
My life took a significant turn 12 years ago when I started fostering dogs. I pulled out a few sick dogs from a kill shelter and brought them back to life and managed to adopt them out. I'll never forget the day I tried to clean up a little dog named Rumpole. It was then that it hit me—I could become a groomer and pay the bills. I went to school, worked in a grooming shop, and later at an animal hospital. This experience made me realize that being in the pet industry and being surrounded by dogs makes my heart happy.
"I eventually started my own mobile grooming business. However, seeing so many dogs suffer from allergies, hurtful medications, and the high costs of veterinary care drove me crazy. I knew there had to be a better way to help my clients and their pets. The turning point came when my Sphynx cat fell seriously ill. After spending $3,000 and consulting three veteranians who all suggested putting him down, I refused to give up. Through a Facebook group, I diagnosed him myself with DRY FIP and found a cure in 2021.
This experience taught me the importance of seeking different opinions and being open to alternative approaches. During my research, I came across Dr. Ruth Roberts, and her course intrigued me. After taking her course, numerous doors began to open for me in the pet world. I felt immense gratitude and excitement seeing positive changes in the lives of a few dogs in a short time. Now the sky is limit for me. But the most important thing I focus on - saving one dog at a time. Thank you for believing in me.
